Books from the desk. Wonder with a standard.

Red Desk Press publishes books with a classroom standard and a finished object, first for children and then for the adults who build and read the world those children will enter.

Meet Red Desk Children Read about the house

The house

From a New York classroom to the shelf

Red Desk Press was founded after years in a New York classroom and study in publishing at Parsons. The desk is craft. Red is the decision to act. The press is based in Tampa. Founded in New York.

The house and its founder

The house standard

A classroom standard and a finished object

Every Red Desk title, on every list, moves through the same desk before it reaches a reader.

  1. The desk

A manuscript is read for one question first: does it teach, move, or hold a reader the way it means to.

  2. The edit

Structure, then line, then word. Children’s titles are read aloud at this stage.

  3. The object

Type, paper, and cover are chosen for the book in hand, not for a thumbnail.

  4. The shelf

The book is published under its list, with the house sprite as its signature.
